Hello....

I'm Jasmine and I'm 19 and live in Brisbane.
I'm really awkward and don't have many friends.

My 'veganism' (for lack of a better descriptive term) began only a short while ago, let's say hmm 4 months, if that? I was 'vegetarian' for about one year before making the transition.
So far, it has been everything I wanted/expected and then some.

However, I am still in what you could call a transitory state where I am completely aware of a number of non-food products surrounding me in my home on a day-to-day basis that are less than desirable. I'm still making the occasional mistake, and learning from it (hooray!).......but just taking things in my stride and striving to improve my awareness and attitudes to other people each day.

I study Wildlife Science at UQ, but am exploring my options with a few other marine/environmental/conservation degrees.

A perfect word you could use to describe me and my life at the moment is: undecided.

Yep. I'm going through a really rough patch in my mostly 'picture perfect' life thus far, and a lot has changed for me in a short space of time, especially within my family, but more-so in my brain and thought patterns, habits etc. I actually feel a little bit lost. But in amongst all of this I have a light that shines brightly and keeps me moving forward (oh so cliche) and that light is: everyone that is reading this!

It inspires me so much to see everyone coming together in support of a positive change, and I'm looking forward to talking to you guys and possibly making some new friends.

Thanks for listening... bye happy

Jambo Jasmine happy

Rough patches aren't always welcome, but each bump challenges an old idea or approach, and each jolt allows you to look at things from a perspective different to one that you would ordinarily have chosen. It's such a wonderful opportunity for growth and it sounds like you are embracing it in a beautifully warm, fuzzy way.

Just think of all of the wonderful new things that will be attracted to your life from here on in...

Hi Jasmine, congrats on your transition!  thumb

I'm not sure why you feel down, so just assuming... could totally be off course here! wink

Unfortunately, when you're new to veganism, you can get bombarded with graphic images of animal cruelty, not to mention criticism from omni's or feeling detached from them. Simple things like going shopping or not being able to go certain places with fam/friends is life changing. And changes for those around you. I've found not looking at cruelty videos, reading articles etc helps. Once you've heard one, you've heard another! Your whole perspective with change, but it does get better and easier in time.

You sound like a  wonderful person, welcome AAU happy

Wow, thank you everyone that was so lovely. My problems are minuscule compared to those of other less fortunate people and beings so I do try to focus on the positive side a lot and remind myself to stop complaining, haha. It surprises me how easy some people can be convinced to try new things, I had a friend the other day tell me that they went and bought some coconut milk to replace their cows milk after a conversation we had and they said that they loved it and would never go back! It made me so happy, ahhh - the little things happy thank again xx
