Go and see a Vegan friendly GP. You might want to wait for a couple more months to get a blood test because your levels might not have had the chance to change yet. Well at least thats want my GP told me after being a Vegan for 3 months.
Most people in 'mainstream' society think Veganism is stupid mostly because it challenges what they know and believe in. Most of the criticism I have got have come from people that have no training or understanding of nutrition. You just need to read how to get all your vitamins and minerals and protein and iron. I think becoming a vegan actually encourages you to think more about what you eat and how you are going to get everything you need, which means you end up eating a more varied diet!
Veganism is not mainstream but once you have done it for a while it will feel so natural and so right! I think everyone that consumes any type of animal product is weird now!

This is so great! People are so afraid of questioning what they have been taught, including doctors. GPs don't actually get that much nutrition based training, and suggesting supplements is just to save their ass just in case you just eat bread and chips as a vegan.
Dont worry about your family that's what these forums are for. My family are on and off supportive but I think society in general make me angry. I get angry that there is hardly any vegan options in cafes etc.
