I had heard about it and seen it on the news. As the opening gimmick for this year's Perth Arts Festival, they had people suspended on high wires between skyskrapers in the CBD. They were dressed as angels. I don't have a problem with that. But there was nothing sweet and angelic about the simulataneous dumping from the sky of two tonnes of pure white duck feathers and down. Hundreds of thousands of beautiful and innocent ducks
had to die to make those feathers available for the sickening and stupid display. This morning, I came into work in the Perth CBD. Inevitably, there are still feathers everywhere, in spite of yesterday's clean-up. As a WA taxpayer, I am very, very angry that I have been forced to subsidise something so inherently cruel and totally pointless.
