I can't believe what I've just seen!
Dateline on SBS ran an article about girls bullfighting in Portugal.
I'm a bit lost for words, but will probably suffice to say that the report ended with Yalda Hakim saying: "animal rights issues aside, you have to admire the courage of these girls"

I repeat... W T F ?????!!!!!

I feel sick

I keep wondering how long it is going to take for this to stop.

Sounds like feminism to me, in my opinion though it's highly hypocritical to stand up for one group while totally shi*ing on another.

I don't see what's brave about slaughtering an animal that's been provoked and probably abused. This is horrendous.

If a sentence begins with "animal rights issues aside" I don't want to hear the end of that sentence... :/

Definitely abused & definitely horrendous... The poor thing had heaps of blood running down its side from the spears they'd stuck in it before they started + there were at least half a dozen teenagers at it all at once, pulling its tail etc  :*(

isn't there some sort of cultural heritage aspect, I don't know much about Portugal... history...OR Geography.

Also at-least they identified or exhibited recognition that there ARE animal rights issues.
But yeah... in a world of thrill seeking, it is just platitudinous to say "but you have to respect the girls blah dee"...

Sorry, can you explain what happened for people that didn't see it?

Were they dancing around avoiding being skewered, or were the bulls being brutalized.

I just can't picture little Portuguese girls harming bulls, am sure if I actually saw it, i'd understand. Just curious about the cultural aspects is all I ask for.

If you want to see something to be appalled at modern-culturally, check out this camera review:

it has an unexpected Vegan twist in the middle and by Vegan twist I mean...
