Hey everyone, hope this hasn't been posted but it would be appreciated if you would get behind this movement: Exposing Joseph Kony.
Who is Kony:
"Joseph Kony is THE WORST LIVING CRIMINAL.
He abducts children and makes them use guns to kill their own parents.
He takes girls and forces them to be sex slaves.
He calls his abducted children the Lord’s Resistance Army, AKA the LRA.
He has abducted over 30,000 children and forced them to be child soldiers in Central Africa.
He remains at large because he is INVISIBLE to the world.
FEW know his name, even FEWER know his crimes."
The aim of this is to spread the word about Kony so that the world will unite against him and demand his arrest.
People in my friends list who I never thought would care about something like this are posting it all over the place, it's great. Though it's exceptionally sad and makes my blood boil.
This is pretty much everywhere. And I do think it's a worthy cause.
BUT, why is it that when we try to do something like this, i.e. Earthlings, no one hardly takes notice! It frustrates me to the point that while watching the whole Kony 2012 video all I thought was "This should be Earthlings. Why isn't this Earthlings?"
Please tell me someone else feels like this.
I would very much like for this guy to be arrested, he is a horrible person, but what I would like more is for animals to live on this earth happily.
This murder is worldwide, not just in Africa...

I do agree. I try my best to spread Earthlings everywhere and I know a lot of people who, as we know, refuse to watch/spread it because it goes against their "beliefs" or "lifestyle" and that makes me furious. We just have to keep at it nevertheless. I guess it's all about persistence and determination because there is no way they can run away/hide from the truth forever (though many do come very close).
In saying this however I don't believe that caring about one problem will hinder people's ability to care for another. People still can distribute/ share Earthlings, as well as sharing this or any other non-animal related causes. I do both :]
And back to Uganda. Uganda is no longer experiencing violence from the LRA. Yes, I said it. It’s an uncomfortable truth, but it is a truth. For about the last year, since before IC hit the scene, Kony and his troops have been pushed into Congo, into the Garamba National Forest there. He’s sick, starving, and on his last legs. For the first time, Uganda is in the middle of real peace talks and the rebels have laid down their arms and are assembling to make peace. Why? This is happening because Joseph Kony was defeated. The Uganda People’s Defense Force (UPDF) has beaten them back and Kony was sitting in Congo starving to death. Since March 2002, the UPDF has been allowed to carry out raids against the LRA into Southern Sudan and has even crossed into Congo, to the distress of most of the African community. Nonetheless, Operation Iron Fist, as this military offensive was called, has freed many child soldiers and sex slaves and brought them back to Uganda. The rebels again became very violent in 2003, but since 2004, the Ugandan government has been repeatedly beating the rebels and weakening them. Uganda is no longer allowed to enter Sudan or Congo to fight the LRA.
Invisible Children was founded in 2004, with the film crew filming in Uganda in 2003. Watching Invisible Children is watching old news. Will watching it alert you to what has occurred in Uganda? Yes, but it will not let you know what is happening there today.
This isn't just about Uganda. It's about arresting one of the cruelest men to have ever lived. Yes, it's true that they're much safer now (they acknowledged this in the video) but that doesn't mean the world should give up on bringing justice. And despite the criticisms toward Invisible Children, the movement will still contribute a lot of awareness and good for the cause, so I can't see the damage in supporting it, or linking a video, or writing a letter. I honestly don't get people who are so against it. Facebook is so dramatic.
The group is in favour of direct military intervention, and their money funds the Ugandan government’s army and various other military forces. Here’s a photo of the founders of Invisible Children posing with weapons and personnel of the Sudan People’s Liberation Army. Both the Ugandan army and Sudan People’s Liberation Army are riddled with accusations of rape and looting, but Invisible Children defends them, arguing that the Ugandan army is “better equipped than that of any of the other affected countries”, although Kony is no longer active in Uganda and hasn’t been since 2006 by their own admission.
I think it is great that awareness is being spread about this issue all over the net, but I don't completely understand why people are donating to this cause and how the money is supposed to help? If international forces want to intervene and arrest him I am fairly sure they don't need our money to do that.
While I do think this man should be arrested, I do believe that there are things much more worth while that people can donate their money towards that will help issues that are currently effecting people/animals today. Donate to reliable charities where you know the money is going to a good cause.
