So a question for all the baristas out there... Why is it that nearly every cafe charges 50c or 60c extra for Soy? Is the cost price of soy vs. regular milk so much more expensive?! Feedback & opinions please! Love, love, love
this annoys me too, it's not that exy to buy a carton of soy, especially if they are ordering them (which the coffee company i used to work for would do, they'd get a crate)
I know SO many people who drink soy, and it's only increasing!
I'm glad you started this thread, everytime i get a coffee from now on Im going to ask why they charge for it
I wanted to grab a coffee before work the other day at Gloria Jeans, it was SEVENTY CENTS for soy milk, I couldn't even believe it.. Stuff them, they're not taking my money, it doesn't cost that much extra. I could understand maybe 40 cents at the most, but it's getting ridiculous.
Yeah this angers me too >:|
I understand that soy is probably a bit more expensive in comparison to regular dairy milk, especially because they wouldn't be ordering it in large bulk amounts. But it is definitely not that much more! The most I will pay extra for soy milk is probably an extra 30c.
And it has to with production costs, demand (we know a lot of people do want soy but they don't buy it in such a large bulk yet + marketing - some people do get soy to be 'trendy' etc and some businesses based on their location will 'milk' that. Sorry for the pun).
Ha ha PurpleFae that was hilarious! Some people have money to burn... Has anyone ever ordered and refused to pay the extra and still get soy coffee?! Am I a jerk to refuse to pay the extra? Companies should understand that drinking regular milk isn't a choice for some people so why should we have to pay extra??!!!
