Sheep need to be shorn is a dumb argument. The only reason said sheep exist in the first place is because of the demand for wool. It's like saying 'cows need to be milked'.

I knit with 100% acrylic yarn.. doesn't make me itch like wool does anyway wink
You need to remember.. most farms are about quantity not quality.. especially when it coems to profit. Shearers work towards getting as many sheep shorn as quickly as possible.. which involves allsorts of nasty injuries. Not too mention mulesing!

Not neccessarily. Sheep do need to be shorn, it's a fact of life. They have been bred to produce more wool than their body can handle.. I have seen many a cruelty case where the sheep have never been shorn and can barely move from the weight of the wool. That doesn't excuse supporting the wool industry however, where numerous cruelties that have been mentioned above occur.
