Anyone interested in starting up an animal activism group? We have our Adelaide Vegans group, but thats more of a social meet with dinner. I'm looking for a group interested in protesting various animal rights causes, particularly the amount of real fur being sold during winter.
Hey. I'm pretty keen to help out. I'm sure a couple of my other vegan friends would be interested too. Since when did fur become fashionable again in Australia?! So wrong! I've got plenty of fight in me for this!
yeah it's pretty disgusting. Alot of stores are selling fur now, and proudly. Wildchild at Norwood and Unley are posting their "100% raccoon fur" jackets all over Facebook. Other stores such as Globalize in the city are also selling real fur vests and jackets.
I think the problem is our youth aren't educated as to the suffering behind fur. There was a huuuuge movement in the 70's or 80's (I think) where people doused red paint on those wearing real fur jackets. The industry died down a bit, atleast in western countries, but it seems to be perking back up again.
If we can get a large group of people, we could definitely stage a peaceful protest outside one of these chain retailers.
