Animal Liberation of SA is hosting a PEACEFUL Anti-Fur Protest soon!
This will be happening on the 8th of June. We will be meeting outside of Wild Child Norwood at 11.30am. We are trying to raise awareness to customers that frequent these fur selling boutiques and hopefully get some to change their minds about their fur wearing ways!
Someone also posted this; and its a great idea:

IF YOU SEE REAL FUR PRODUCTS IN SHOPS - SPEAK TO THE OWNER MANAGER TO REQUEST THEIR REMOVAL - FOLLOW UP WITH THIS LETTER
Dear
RE: Real Fur Products
I write to you in respect of the above and as a long time patron of your store.
I was in your store on / / / and was shocked and disappointed to note that you are stocking real fur products. Please consider removing these products from your store and refusing to stock such products in the future as I will be unable to shop in your store until such products are permanently removed. I assure you that there are many other local people of the same opinion.
Not only is real fur the result of horrific suffering (animals that are specifically bred for fur or are captured off the street, undergo horrific cruelty before they are skinned alive to obtain the requisite pelt ‘look’ and remain alive for up to 6 seconds after skinning is complete), but real fur is passé and so last century. It is also ‘cheap’ – many items of tatty, UGLY, cheap clothing and accessories from e.g. China and Indonesia are made with real fur – it is no longer a luxury product and the smart, trendy, quality brands, especially in Europe, are opting for fake fur – think Stella McCartney.
Selling real fur is also a global brand damager. Shoppers are turning off real fur and those who stock and sell it; campaigns are being launched against it and suppliers of it. It is not worth either your or your stores reputation to stock real fur and support this vile trade.
I urge you - please become Real Fur Free. Please refuse to stock and sell real fur and only stock brands who take the ‘No real fur challenge.’ Make your customers proud to shop in your store once again.
I wouldn't send a letter like that. Its n ot very well written and I don't agree with all the facts.
Animals can live much longer than 6 seconds after being skinned alive. Skinning a live anial is preferable because it's easierthan than a dead one but in some places the animals are electrocuted first. I'm not sure that the status of the animals has anything to do with how the finished product appears after it has been treated with all the various chaemicals to stop the skin from rotting..
While you may say that real for is passee it is making a comeback in countries like England and Australia due to the influence of the fasion industry and no doubt cheap fur from China.
In Russia and parts of Europe fur is big business and always has been. In places like Turkey and Greece there are fur shops as big as some furniture stores here.
Yes its appalling and I am horrified by it all and more so that fur is making itsway into Australia and that people are buying it. A coupld of years ago the Adeliade Advertiser ran a news story saying that it was now ok to wear fur. It sported a picture of a woman wearing a fur jacket, albeit one that was second hand but none the less it was real fur. Even on the radio I have heard people talking about 'ethical fur'. There is no such thing of course but people believe what they want to justify their own actions.
I will write up my own letter and maybe post it up here for feedback.
