This is my story of my little man (not the 1 in my profile).

My oldest dog had been attacked by a horrendous bull mastiff - that it's 15-yr old owner had let off leash to purposely attack other dogs in an on-leash area - and had suddently become blind and of course aggitated from the attack.  He was stumbling and charging around a lot in a panic, and one day he charged into my Dad's vegie patch; that is huge.

I couldn't find him so I started calling out his name frantically and my little pup charged into the backyard, running up and down until he smelt the older dog in the vegie patch.  The pup bounded into the vegie patch, jumped up in front of the older dogs nose, touched his nose so he felt and smelt him; then he walked s..l..o..w..l..y in front of the older dog until he had maneuvred him out of the vegie patch.

My older dog has since passed (as a result of the dog attack), however, the pup is now a "big" 4-yr old boy (I have "big" as is as he's a whopping 4kg  laugh ).  He now is our family gatherer - if anyone wants to find someone, all we have to do is call their name and he will volunteer to find them, and bring them back to you (wheter they be human or dog).

Oh I actually have another story about my same dog which I just remembered after reading everyone elses posts.

One day I was walking home from primary school (grade 4) this boy I didn't know was trying to walk with me and was asking me all kinds of things, what school do I go to, where did I live etc. etc. I didn't want him to know where I lived so I said just a while over the hill... it was clear to him at that point that I didn't want anything to do with him and it obviously annoyed him. I walked faster and once I got home I'd forgotten all about it.  I went out the back and was playing with my brother and our border collie, Sam. He started going crazy, looking worried, pacing, trying to get our attention. My brother and I decided to follow him where he led us to the gate and started barking. Out the front, sure enough was that boy, lighting fire to a tree outside the house. Once he was gone I told my brother and he went and put out the fire. Thanks to Sam it didn't turn in to anything big or too dramatic! ecstatic
Gotta love puppies. ecstatic

These are the reasons why I've chosen animals as my family, rather than having human children.

i used to have a blue heeler when i was living at home with mum and dad, she would come every were with me and only spent little time with them, but my dad always gave her treats...one day my dad took her around to our local school were my mum would clean...he was helping my mum clean the outside rooms when my dad had a big german shepherd charging at him...keira.was nowere to be seen and my dad got ready to fend of the attack when out off nowhere keira come hurtling round the corner to actuall hip and shoulder the bigger dog out of the way of my dad ..and then stood her ground against the bigger dog until his owner came and took control....keira must of remembered the treats my dad gave her ...he talked about that incident  every chance he got and gave more treats afterwards

I've been battling cancer for the last couple of years, when my health deteriorated badly and things didn't look so good for me my 2 kitties stayed by my side 24/7. When i was in bed they were both with me, cuddled up close and 'cleaning' my hair. During the day my partner would carry me downstairs so i could lay on the lounge and watch tv, they followed and curled up on me again, never leaving me. If i was asleep for a long time they would put their little paws on my cheek and 'chirrup' at me, i'd open my eyes and say 'i'm ok kitty' and they'd go back to sleep again. My 2 little angels helped me get through that, couldn't have done it without them happy

Heres a story: When I lived at my old house we had a lot of cats in the neighborhood. When i first let my kitten outside we found all the neighbor cats in our yard teaching our kitten to walk across our fence. Years later my girl-loving independent Oscar was teaching our now-adult to hunt and kill. Oscar was extremely hating of our other cat until we got our dog, who sort of pushed them together.

I have two boy ferrets who love each other with all of their big (little) hearts, they cannot fall to sleep unless they are touching one another. It may be touching paws, touching backs, spooning, cuddling or touching heads, but they love to fall asleep next to each other. ^ __ ^
