It's not really up to your friends or family, though. It's your decision. When I first went vegetarian, my family didn't support me, and I ended up just eating salad and not a whole lot else. Over time, though, they've come to see that I'm actually serious about it, and now mum buys me vegie burgers and so on.

Maybe go into Woolies and find out what is there, I'm sure that there'd be SOMETHING, small town supermarkets (that aren't even a brand name) stock tofu and some variety of vegie burger (they also sell them in the deli section of some supermarkets), so just go and have a look around, see what's there, then when you tell your family, you can say but LOOK, TASTY ALTERNATIVES!

As for your friends... just stick at it happy

My fam wasn't supportive either but it's your decision not theirs. As Sez, said please do your research on healthy  eating. I was an unhealthy vegetarian too, I lived off pasta. Eck!

See if they have tofu/tempeh/Sanitarium products (all in the chilled section) or Frys products (freezer). And if not, you might be able to request them.

Also, check out veg online shops like Cruelty Free Shop etc (They're based in NSW) but there might be some out your way  happy

basically it should be completely your decision, your friends will probably support you, if it makes you happy they should be happy for you and if it doesn't really directly effect them then it shouldn't bother them much.

as for your family, if your really worried try telling someone who you think is more likely to be supportive first then maybe they can help you tell other people. Try presenting it rationally, explain to them why you want to and how you plan to do it healthily.

search around any supermarkets you have and just see if there is any alternatives, there probably is you've just got to look, and maybe ask the staff there.

good-luck!  thumb
