ever since day one my mum's been really, really cool about me being vegan. also, she's now doing ALV's "30 day vegan easy challenge" so that makes thing really, really, really cool! tongue I would safely say that now she's a vegetarian. not sure about vegan though. tactically slipping in those agribusiness facts every now and then obviously worked!  ninja

friends, as expected, are also cool about it. it does't bother them -- afterall, why should it? no conversions yet, but i'm slowly working on it. tongue

but yeh, to me at least, friends are the ones you know you can tell everything or do anything and they'll still be there for you.

My mum has pretty much always been supportive, she's never really stopped me with my choices, and she used to be vego back in the day but that was mostly because she didn't like the taste of meat. Dad, on the other hand... I still get lectures about how I'm not getting enough of this and that, and how I should be taking a multivitamin even though my blood tests came back better than good. I don't know what he's talking about, I get more variety than he does!
Though I can hear some concern in his voice when I tell him about the treatment of cattle and chickens, so hopefully after he's seen Earthlings he might have a good think about it.
Friends have never tried to stop me, I get the odd vegan joke here and there but nothing too severe tongue
I still remember when I thought veganism was 'too extreme'... wow things have changed tongue

ur all very lucky.
im vegan and i dont hav much support.
from friends i get alot of jokes and but why dont u eat meat, whats wrong with milk, wat about calcium.....i hav explained it all so many times but i still get all the jokes and ppl shoving their burgers, pizzas, milkshakes etc in my face and asking y i wont hav any.
a few friends dont mention it anymore bcoz they hav realized it isn't a faze or diet but a lifestyle choice, i hav 1 friends who supports me being vegan. i feel lucky to hav her.

as for family i hav no support.
my parents think being vegan is wrong and unhealthy even tho they live on nothing but junk food, take away and BBQs apparently im the unhealthy one.
wen i do try to explain y im vegan to them or that im actually healthier now than i once was they simply say it isnt true bcoz doctors etc say you need meat milk etc.
my family believes animals are here for us to eat. it makes me so sad to hear this.

but im standing by my choice and beliefs and i always will.
i hav so many ppl trying to convince me to eat meat dairy eggs etc but i refuse to give in simply bcoz they think im wrong.
in the end i no im right and i no im doing the right thing for animals the earth and my body.
i just wish ppl would listen to wat i hav to say about the issue.

Yeah my family wasn't super thrilled, but my mom has been pretty good about it.
They still all call it a 'phase' which upsets me a bit, but they are the ones paying for my special food so I can't complain much.

It was pretty cute though, walked into the kitchen the other morning to find my mom making me blueberry pancakes with 'all your special stuff' (eg. soy milk, egg replacement, nuttalex) in them. happy
