You should email the Today Show as well with comments on the ignorance of Karl Stefanovic and Jerry McGuire. What fools.

Hey there everyone!

I'm not sure how many of you guys ever watch Media Watch on the ABC, but it's one of the best quality shows on air. Weekly debacles in the media are reported to the television show and they are scrutinised by the shows host.

Well, this morning i viewed something on the channel nine Today Show that i thought was worth reporting. I've Emailed the Media Watch team.

Tell me what you think

"Dear Media Watch team.

While viewing channel nine's today show, this morning (5/11) I viewed a segment of the show somewhere between 7:30 and 8:00 am, Adelaide time, In which Karl Stefanovic and Jerry McGuire discussed several topical issues.

One of the issues discussed was Al Gores recent recommendation that we in the western world should consume less meat, as animal agriculture is an environmentally destructive industry. The video clip of this message was played on air.

Karl Stefanovic & Jerry McGuire began to laugh about the issue, and Jerry stated something along the lines of "Look, Al Gore may be right. Maybe if you look at the meat industry around the world you would see that it was causing some small amount of damage, but really we should be focusing on things that we can really make a difference with."

The thing is, cutting down on animal products in our diet is just about the biggest single thing anyone can do to limit the size of their ecological footprint. According to the 'Food and Agriculture Organisation' of the United Nations in their report titled "Livestocks Long Shadow" animal based agriculture accounts for more than 18 percent of all global carbon emissions. This is a bigger percentage than that of global transport.

See for yourself at < http://www.fao.org/docrep/010/a0701e/a0701e00.HTM >

Perhaps discussions about serious issues such as climate change should be left to those with brains larger than grapes?

Thanks for reading. Keep up all the good work.
