Barring any unforseen circumstances, I shall shortly be winging my way to Canada and the US for a few weeks.

So, what should I sample while I am over there? I plan on feasting on as many and varied vegan pizzas at every opportunity, and will be devouring every vegan donut that I get within coo-ee of. Crikey, look at me getting all Aussie.  tongue

Also, what should I stock up on to bring back?

Also also, general vegan things in US/Canada thread.

With absolutely no first-hand experience of what I'm about to say: I've heard that the north-west is a mecca for vegans, Washington state and Oregon (and the city of Portland in particular).

So basically, just head straight there and ignore the other 48 states and Canada entirely.  happy

Yeah I'll be entering the US down from Vancouver into Seattle and the widespread opportunities for vegan donuts has my mouth watering already.  ecstatic

Brooklyn should also yield dividends. Or divegands if you will.

Eat everything, there are so many good places to eat in both Countries. In Boston I went to My Thai Vegan Cafe it was amazing, in NYC make sure you check out baby cakes vegan bakery and also Caravan of Dream for some epic raw vegan food. LA there are also a lot of places, but Truly Vegan and LA vegan were both great. And in San Fran make sure you get to Maggie Mudd as they have some incredible vegan ice cream.

Hope that helps. Also if you get to Vancouver, The Naam Restaurant was also delicious.

I live in the United States, and two GREAT vegan restaurants would be Subway and Sweet Tomatoes.
At subway you can ask for a 'veggie delight' and most of the options in Sweet Tomatoes are vegetarian.

Eat all the things! The US is supposed to be a haven for vegan food, I'm sure you'll have a blast.

It's just a shame so much of it utilises palm oil. sad Vegan yanks don't seem as concerned about or maybe aware of the impact of palm oil production.

Quite the opposite! I only know a few vegan-friendly people or places anywhere.

Kelsey, trust me. Compared to Australia, the US is a haven for vegans and vegetarian food.
