Am on the ground now in Vancouver, great little city. Not a million miles away from a Per/Syd/Melb type vibe. Pizza joints EVERYWHERE here downtown... must... find... vegan pizza! Looking like a lot of vegan places are further out. Anybody know of any vegan restaurant sites/forums/aggregators/apps?

Will still be in Canada at that stage.

Day 1 - Vegan pizza 1... well 2. Hopped on the Skytrain for an hours' round trip in order to gorge on the creations of The Vegan Pizza House at 2119 Kingsway, a few suburbs out of downtown.

Had a Vegan House Special and a Hawaiian. Oh so excellent. Really very close to what good old fashioned cheese pizza tasted like. These were my first pizzeria vegan pizzas since I went vegan almost three years ago to the day. Daiya makes a very good cheese substitute, though perhaps a teensy bit more 'gluggy' or plasticiney than our very own Notzarella.

I'm not sure I will be able to fulfil my hopes of vegan pizza for dinner every night... I am so very fat and bloated right now. Off to bed for me. Vancouver is absolutely gorgeous by the way, the mountains - wow!

Edit- I took some (not very good) photos of the pizzas which I'll upload when I work out how to do that exactly. Currently travelling with brand new DSLR I have no clue how to use, and an iPad. happy

Had my first vegan donuts today, care of Acme Donuts in Portland. It's been probably 5 years since I've had a donut, and close to 15 years since I've had a true American donut. It was a transcendental experience. Shall be trying Voodoo Donuts tomorrow if all goes to plan. I may be developing a second chin.

Sacrificed a box of dripping donuts to the belly gods care of Voodoo Doughnut also in Portland, and nearby Eugene. Even better than Acme though I think maybe I caught Acme at the end of their morning bake stock and Voodoo at the start of their afternoon bake. I think what Acme did best were their fruit fillings and icings. They didn't taste artificial or slimy, which Voodoos did a bit. Voodoos were a better texture and consistency of the actual dough though. Plus they had some stupidly hilarious varieties:

- see down the bottom for the key to which ones are vegan.

I have more vegan pizza reviews to come - Sizzle Pie in Portland and Pizza Research Institute in Eugene - but must get to bed.

Heading down to San Francisco tomorrow, so more food adventures await!
