On Wednesday the third of October I came home to discover my house wide open, and my new puppy missing. She is five months old; she is a blue and white American Staffordshire terrier. She is a very distinctive  dog, not your average k9, I think I’m correct in saying that theft to make them fighting dogs is quite normal which i cant deal with. I live by myself, and work night shifts at the local bakehouse in Budgewoi. I Leave for work at 2am, so i am assuming it had to be some time between then and sunrise. I found a very strange letter in my mailbox. Getting past the terrible handwriting and poor grammar I managed to work out the message. It read  : I hope you learnt your lesson this time mate, don’t go hitting your dogs like you do or the rest will go missing’  Its really  frightening. A good friend of mine also had her car stolen from the parking area next to my house. I think someone is trying to get me or has mistaken me for a family member of the owner of the house. I only saying this because i only have one other dog and the note said that “the others will go missing” The owner of the house( who is also a good friend of mine) had five Rhodesian ridgebacks and  a smaller dog, but in saying that the grammar is that poor in the letter they may have just had no clue how to  write in the English language.  I haven’t been able to sleep since they took her  only have the day time to try and find her, fall asleep around 10/11pm get back up at 1am to leave for work at 2am, the note has made me to paranoid to leave my other dog  at home so i have had to take him too work with me, tie him up all night outside. Apparently my dog is around the 12th or 13th to go missing from my area this month, Its a small town. I have professional a3 posters EVERYWHERE with big clear photos of her and a bold $3000 reward which i am more than happy to give on her safe return, no questions, cops or threats, i just need my dog. I live by myself, moved up the central coast because i  wanted a fresh start, i don’t know anybody, i have no enemies and I certainly have never ever hit my dogs, I believe you get better obedience with positive reinforcement rather than punishing when doing the wrong thing. I’m reaching out to everyone possible, the police cant help. I Have an idea where these dogo fighting rings are based. With the right help I think I can put a stop to this. I have the passion. I just need an army. Please help me in anyway you can. Somebody must know SOMETHING

Give that letter to the police immediately. There would be fingerprints on it

This makes me sick to my stomach. I have a staffy x and am so paranoid about things like that. I am so sorry you have to go through this, I can't imagine how you feel. I hope to god your dog is ok and you find the [email protected]¥ who took her.

I am so sorry to hear about this. It must be devastating. Staffies are such beautiful, sweet-natured dogs. It horrifies me to think of anyone forcing them to fight. I sincerely hope  that is not what has happened to your companion.

Good luck and I hope she returns to you safely and you catch the people who took her from you.

Please make sure to report it to the police if you haven't already. They can't do anything unless you report what has happened. There have been an increasing amount of dog thefts all over the country over the past few months, but a lot of people haven't been reporting it to the police which makes it hard for them to do anything.
They do take it seriously, I even called up about a white ute with dog cages that kept driving past our house and they were very interested to hear what information I had to give.

Not only was your dog stolen, but they broke into your property which is an offence within itself.

gahh =( i got a similar but typed letter in my letterbox threatening my cats....this is not long after i lost one of them.
i know the feeling - it was frightening and i felt sick in the stomach.

i also dont like leaving my dogs because of the area i live in ....my worst fear is coming home and seeing the door open. But they are border collies and havent heard many of them being taken.

You did the right thing with posters, I would also put them in letterboxs or talk to the neighbours if you know them...pity they were probably asleep when it happened :/

Also put notices in the paper, there are also facebook pages for missing pets - i joined a couple in my state/local area and people are really helpful and share around photos. Also your local radio might send out a message. i know my local radio does that - they have a segment where they mention missing pets etc .

it really breaks my heart that there are people out there who do things like this.
