what are your thoughs on McHappy Day? unethical for the animals but good for the sick kids and familys.
just thought id put this out there even though i think no one on here would have bought a big mac, lol.
i suppose its good for the sick kids, but the animals they probably make the burgers from are just as sick. maybe they should do a vegie/vegan burger to raise funds.
Siff Maccas will ever release a veggie burger!! But we can all pray they do.
To be honest I think it'd be a smart business move. That way they could appeal to everyone (not that I would go there even if they had a vegie burger).. Hungry Jacks has one that I used to eat when I was a vegetarain sometimes and they still have it so it must be selling alright.

HJ's has a veggie burger???? Can't say I've ever seen/heard of it... mind you I don't (& never really did) eat there anyway.

burgerking have a vegan burger but it never made it to Australia. Hungry jacks do have a veggie burger but i dont trust it.
I'm interested to hear what exact brands of food/clothing/makeup you buy Grace... and where you shop? I'm vegan because I care about ALL life. I gave up milk/dairy/eggs because it directly supports the murder and suffering of animals. So far I'm not aware of buying anything that does that to humans, don't call me ignorant, I know humans are exploited to produce things but we don't directly take from their bodies the way we do non-humans.
I do my best to buy locally produced food, that comes from small independent shops instead of huge supermarkets. I can't remember the last time I bought a new outfit, I only really buy second hand things... I know I'm doing a lot more than the average Australian, and until more people buy like I do it will remain hard for me to be completely ethical when I buy.
I do my best to not cause harm on the environment/humans/animals and sometimes I drive myself insane thinking about how almost every company does disgusting things to people. But as someone on a low wage that works for a corporation because that's all I'm capable of doing at this stage in my life I know I can't beat myself up if I buy something owned by Kraft, or companies alike. I simply do my best, like everyone should. Yes I believe to be vegan it's inconsistent not to be a humanitarium, but I would consider most vegans people who think about where they buy from and what they buy. And all the vegans I'm friends with are kinder to humans than non-vegans. Vegans shouldn't hate people, it's sad to hear a lot do.
I urge all vegans here to try and be ethical with their food choices but I think being vegan is already doing a hell of a lot. As for vegetarians... I don't think you can eat ethically even if you did buy from the best companies, as there is no such thing as ethical vegetarianism.
Hungry Jacks veggie burger is OK (withgout the cheese). I've eaten one a couple of times.
Is it vegan?
Edit: looked it up, defooo not vegan. Has egg and I think milk in it. But holy crap, 718 calories o_O Even if it was vegan, nooooo thankyou. I'd rather have like, 10 bowls of vegies for that amount thanks.
Oh, and it also has rennet in it, so, not so vegetarian. Eh. How misleading.

It has rennet? Oh yeah in the cheese (ick).
Oh well, there you go.
Thanks for pointing it out.
Kind of adds more meaning to this whole argument too.
I'm not perfect, no one is.
We better stick to water. That's safe innit? ;o)
I think it all comes down to one point - do the best you can when you can. As V*gans, the thought of a discrimination between humans and animals is kinda silly. Its a fact that it is simply not possible to live a life on this world in our current political/social/economic condition and not affect someone, somewhere. People talk about living off the land and being self-sufficient which sounds fantastic, if a little too dreamlike, but even that has its draw backs and its cruelty. Would you relocate the insects/animals that had homes where you want to put yours? All animals, including humans, and natural life impacts others - its part of life, and part of what can make it so wonderful. There are times we're going to impact negativley and there is nothing - NOTHING - anyone can do to stop that.
Oh and BTW? Im a self-confessed Oreo lover, and will be forever more. I believe that buying the vegan products out of the whole range of the supermarket gives us power over that range.
So accept it, accept where others draw the line (within reason), and in the meantime we should all try and do the best we can.
