The other day on AA's facebook page someone said that we should introduce FMD (foot and mouth disease) to cripple australias livestock industries and stop live export.
It caused a huge stink amogst all the farmers and live export supporters which i found quite funny i dnt think the person was serious.
But i must admit i don't have a huge knowledge of this disease is it as big a deal as they made it out to be could it stop live export and meat exports in general? what effect would it have on dairys? the comment even made it into some news artciles.
I in noo way advoacate bringing in this disease or people suggesting it!
I think it's f**king retarded that anyone would take offense or retaliate to such a comment. Obviously it was made on poor judgment, probably an attempt to piss people off and gain some negative response. It did just that.
The fact that people are responding to that only increases the effectiveness of it's stupidity..anyone can say anything on a Facebook post.
This post was not made by someone with political influence or recognisable standing (as to mean people would take that persons word), just some random.
The sort of attention that comment is getting is absolutely ridiculous
/endrant
So because someone introduces foot and mouth disease to the Live Export trade its seen as martyrdom for all the animals that suffer horrible painful deaths?
I don't suppose the animals get a choice in being martyrs do they.
Who's going to introduce it? An animal activist? A supporter for live export? The former, in your eyes. The latter - of course not, why kill off stock, to what gain?
And what happens if they are caught?
Live Export Spokesperson: "Another abhorrent act by animal extremists that only seem to jeapordise our livelihood and jobs. The foot and mouth disease that is now aboard our live stock vessels was introduced by an eco-terrorist who seems to ignore the contradictory nature of his actions, in a ridiculous attempt to end live exports once and for all.."
I respect your compassion but I strongly disagree with your methodology
I dare say it would be alot more than 19million australias alot more relient on exports than the UK, just with beef 60% of thats exported currently to countries who wouldnt take it if FMD were present.
I'd be carefull saying ur for it on a pubic forum though i dare say it would be taken pretty seriously if it would infact cost that much, and people can read this with out being members.
i really dont understand some of u people sometimes ..here u all are getting upset about how animals die and are miss treated and then you want to introduce this disease which will kill thousands of animals not just cows in an umspeakable manner ...why not tape explosives to ur own bodies and climb aboard a live export ship and blow urself up in protest and leave the disease and the animals alone .......its with a very sick mind that u would even contenplate doing such a thing ..... lonewolf you need to have a good hard look at ur self and ur beliefs......saving animals by indroducing fmd is just plain stupidity
Animals Australia does NOT support and in fact condemns any such ideas about FMD. This disease causes immense suffering and death to animals. No one who cares about the welfare of animals would support any such an idea.
Causing suffering to animals to prevent suffering to animals makes absolutely no sense. It undermines the very ethics we stand for. For most people their passion for animal rights is also about non-violence. I believe that not only can we achieve our goals through non-violent activism, we can be more effective through peaceful activism.
