Factory farming is probably the worst it possibly can be, and it is pretty much industry standard around the world so it's really annoying when people don't believe that it happens in Australia. I've actually seen inside a chicken farm in Asia and expected it to be much worse than Aus, but to be honest it was exactly the same.
All of the details in our 'Meet the Animals' section relate to how animals are (legally) treated in Australia when raised for food. http://www.unleashed.org.au/animals/
(in the case of other sectiosn such as leather, fur and animal testing the info on here often is related to how animals are treated overseas before the products from these animals are imported to Australia)
i can asure that the unethical treatment of animals definately happens in aus and alot of the stuff thats earthlings ive seen myself. i did my years 11 and 12 at an agricultural college in the south west of WA and even though i specialised in horticulture i had to partake in the other farm sections as well such as dairy, sheep, beef and pigs (as they called it) and i witnessed alot of F**ked up stuff which is one of the reason i turned vegan while i was there ur friends just being ignorant to what goes on maybe u should take him to a real farm so he can see for himself...perhaps when its lamb marking time on a sheep farm
i got the exact same response from the people in my class today after i showed them the video Hatchery Horror, i had to acyually explain that this sort of treatment happens in this industry not only in certain countries!! I just got given a blank look in return! it's so frustrating sometimes.
