Hey everyone.
I'm really quite new to Unleashed and I've been reading the different posts and learning the ideas of the people signed up here. And I would like to discover more. I am fascinated with how people think and how they react to particular scenarios. So if anyone would like to humour me, I’ve made up a little quiz for anyone who is bored enough to complete it. I warn you though, if you answer something that I don’t understand… I will probably ask you? =) Enjoy.

1. How old are you?

2. Why are you vegan/vegetarian?

3. What, in your thoughts, does it mean to be vegan/vegetarian?

4. When did you feel (emotionally) comfortable about your decision? (In other words; when you told someone, you were proud to say it as opposed to some what embarrassed.)

5. Does being a vegan/vegetarian make sense to YOU? ...How?

6. Other than animals, what else do you support (eg. Child abuse, actions in 3rd world countries, teen issues, etc)?

7. Do you ever press your views on to someone who doesn’t understand your ‘beliefs’ (be honest now)?

8. If answered ‘yes’, why do you?
If answered ‘no’, why don’t you?

9. What is the one thing you’re afraid of? (Now I say one, because fear is always so loosely considered. I would like only one of your fears please).

10. Can you listen to a conversation without ever interrupting it?

11. Do you like your home/things/friends/family?

12. Do you like who are, at this point in time?

OK Last question.

13. If you were born destitute and were given $100. What would you do with it?

Keep livin’ the dream everyone. Cheers.

2. Why are you vegan/vegetarian? I'm vegan due to mainly the abhorrent abuse of non-human animals of the world today. The environmental benefits are a pretty close second; respecting the environment means respecting the ecology which means respecting the animals. The health benifits are just a bonus.

3. What, in your thoughts, does it mean to be vegan/vegetarian?
Veganism to me is two things; combating animal cruelty by refusing to fund it, and two, taking a stance respecting the inherent rights deserving of non-human animals. Veganism totally, or as close as possible, removes you from the absolute exploitation of animals seen today. You're sending a message that you will not be a part of the cruelty and exploitation.

4. When did you feel (emotionally) comfortable about your decision? (In other words; when you told someone, you were proud to say it as opposed to some what embarrassed.)
Hmmmm, probably only about 6 or so months ago. Before that I tried my best to disclose the fact that I was vegan... you know the drill; "I'm allergic to dairy" etc etc.

5. Does being a vegan/vegetarian make sense to YOU? ...How?
I suppose, with doing my best to not sound condescening or elitist, if you have a moral backbone, veganism is the only option. Saying that though, I realise there a number of 'good people' in the world, who do their best for their human brethren... it's just that their speciesist.

6. Other than animals, what else do you support (eg. Child abuse, actions in 3rd world countries, teen issues, etc)?
I suppose its how you define 'support.' The only issue I'm currently active in is animal rights, that is; tabling, leafletting etc etc. However I do support, through petitions and letters etc, and follow: human rights, gay rights, workers rights, disabled rights and earth liberation to an extent.

7. Do you ever press your views on to someone who doesn’t understand your ‘beliefs’ (be honest now)?
Again, i suppose it's a matter of how you define 'press.' I do my best to 'present' the information concerning a range of politics, though do make an effort to not force those views down other peoples' throats. However, when it comes to the suffering of animals, is freeckin hard to see people remain to apathetic to the whole issue. So yes, to be honest, I have at times pressed my views on some people where maybe I shouldn't have.

8. If answered ‘yes’, why do you?
If answered ‘no’, why don’t you?
I feel guilty if I don't. It's hard to put being polite over the absolute abuse of the non-human nations. However, i've come to the conclusion, where the two don't have to be differemt, and are indeed linked. You can present people with information, and faith they will go away by themselves and learn of animal cruelty and act accordingly. You don't have to see 'on-the-spot-conversion' to be doing the right thing by the animals.

9. What is the one thing you’re afraid of? (Now I say one, because fear is always so loosely considered. I would like only one of your fears please).
Open water!!!! I see a big, dark rock at my feet at the beach and I cannot do anything but run! That feeling of not being able to feel the ground in the water is horrible! especially when something bumps like you, and you have no idea what it is tongue

10. Can you listen to a conversation without ever interrupting it?
Yahr.

11. Do you like your home/things/friends/family?
Yahrp.

12. Do you like who are, at this point in time?
Difficult to answer. I don't like the feeling of not doing enough for the animals. But yes, pretty content with myself atm.

OK Last question.

13. If you were born destitute and were given $100. What would you do with it?
Buy something for $100 and sell it for $120? tongue

Boy, you really are an inquisitive thing, aren’t you? tongue This may take a while.

1. 18

2. To put it simply, I just don’t think you should support industries you don’t agree with. There is more to it than that, but with the current state of factory farming and the practices that are legally still allowed to happen, morally, I can’t put my money toward it.

3. I would say it’s different for everyone, but here I’m talking about animal rights. I think it’s to do with a connection an individual makes with the world around them, what they eat and how that meal came to be, as well as a realisation that humans are animals and that we are different, as opposed to “better” or more superior to other animals.

4. To be perfectly honest, I truly believe I’m doing the right thing but I often hesitate in telling people that I’m vegan and will try and find a way to break it to them “gently” in case they think I’m nuts. I know it doesn’t define every aspect of my personality, but I used to be guilty of lumping all vegetarians in with fanatics, extremists and moral guilt-trippers who would glare at you from across the table for eating meat. Now I know that’s not true, but other people don’t and I’m wary of that.

5. It makes perfect sense. I think to dismantle an industry that has its sole focus on profits rather than ethics or a sense of right and wrong, you need to remove your financial contribution from the equation, and that means not supporting them. On an individual level, this only affects them in a small way, but all the new vegetarians & vegans cropping up everywhere are giving the meat industry hell, and we can see that by all the ridiculous advertising & campaigns they are churning out on a regular basis.

6. Other than animals, what else do you support (eg. Child abuse, actions in 3rd world countries, teen issues, etc)? When I say I support animal rights, this includes humans as well for obvious reasons. The state of 3rd world countries is almost directly related to the meat industry because of the insane amounts of food that goes into feeding one cow, sheep or pig. If people in developed countries cut their meat consumption by a quarter, world hunger could theoretically be ended. I cannot explain in words how infuriating that is for me.

In the future I’d also like to campaign for better understanding and acceptance of mental illness. It’s something that has affected me in the past and continues to, and the prejudice and discrimination people show towards it wears me out.  It seems to me that people care more about punishing others for their differences when he or she might make a mistake rather than addressing the issue before hand.

I also care deeply about the environment.

7. & 8  I don’t know if I would use the word “press”, just coz that implies a kind of pushy, bossy attitude that I don’t have. But if someone didn’t understand and was genuinely curious, I’d answer their questions.

Having said that, there have been a few occasions in which I’ve gone completely loco on someone. Heh.
I don’t have a good relationship with my “siblings” (it pains me to even call them that, it’s not normal brother/sister bickering, it’s real hate.) I’ve been ganged up on many a time, ridiculed & abused, physically, mentally and emotionally and in a case like that, I would not hesitate in the slightest to make moo-ing sounds when they eat their casserole. To no-one else would I do this, just to be clear.

9. I’m afraid of getting old.

10. Mostly. There would be few occasions where I would interrupt a conversation that I’m not a part of. Especially not with strangers, as I’m pretty introverted.

11. Not really. My friends are amazing, incredible people who I couldn’t do without. I need to move out soon though, or I will go completely insane.

12. Some aspects… I like my strength in certain situations, but that’s about it.

OK Last question.

13. I seriously sat thinking about this for like, 10 minutes XD I might have to get back to you on this one.

Phew! Done ecstatic

1. How old are you? I'm 13

2. Why are you vegan/vegetarian? Because I believe that humans are no more important on this planet than, for example, an ant. The way we treat our fellow species and our thoughts about them are horrifying. I cannot begin to understand how (white) man got this far, how he was so stupid to think he knew everything and he was right. So my first reason, for others who are imprisoned and tortured or ignored by stupid humans. The next reason would have to be fr the environment. And the health benefits is a bonus happy

3. What, in your thoughts, does it mean to be vegan/vegetarian? It really depends on why your veg*n. The three main reasons are for the animals, for the environment and for your health. People who care for the first reason over the other two would have to be the compassionate, enlightened ones. To them it means to withdraw your support and act against the cruelty and exploitation we place upon our fellow species. People who do it for the environment would have realized that with our astronomic population we cannot continue to exist on this planet while still consuming animal products the way we do. So they are greatly helping the environment. And then there's the people who do it for their health. They have discovered the truth about animal products and how it affects their body and they have decided to stop consuming it because they fear for their health or want to live longer or some other reason. Of course, it could be a mix of all three or two of them.

4. When did you feel (emotionally) comfortable about your decision? (In other words; when you told someone, you were proud to say it as opposed to some what embarrassed.)
I've always been proud of it, so yeah, I've always been comfortable about telling people.

5. Does being a vegan/vegetarian make sense to YOU? ...How? In the current world we live in it makes total sense, much more so than eating animal products. We know now other species feel and matter, we know the impact producing animal products on the environment, and we know that consuming animal products is bad for our health. So how on earth could eating meat/eggs/dairy make sense?

6. Other than animals, what else do you support (eg. Child abuse, actions in 3rd world countries, teen issues, etc)? Hmm, animal rights. Plant rights is very confusing, because we couldn't live without eating them. But saying that it's okay to factory farm plants is kind of hypocritical, I'll have to give it more thought.

7. Do you ever press your views on to someone who doesn’t understand your ‘beliefs’ (be honest now)?
Humans are so selfish, I don't get people who can continue to consume animal products after being shown the evidence. I make smart comments every now and then, but something that gets me really angry is... DAIRY. God I feel like punching their heads in! WHY WHY WHY DO YOU FEEL THE NEED TO DRINK IT! It's DOWNRIGHT unnatural! WHY WHY WHY??!!??!

8. If answered ‘yes’, why do you?
If answered ‘no’, why don’t you?
Yes: Because I don't understand them
No: Because I feel it just make people not want to become vegan even more.

9. What is the one thing you’re afraid of? (Now I say one, because fear is always so loosely considered. I would like only one of your fears please).
Hmmm. I'm afraid of being afraid?

10. Can you listen to a conversation without ever interrupting it? Depends... if I hear something that's false I'll probably correct it.

11. Do you like your home/things/friends/family? Home: no
Things: You mean thing things? (lulz) no. Regretting I ever got so many "things" in the first place
Friends: Some of them. Girls at this age can be so... mean...
Family: Some of them. We're currently having this court thing that's been going on for like, three years. Geez people can be selfish.

12. Do you like who are, at this point in time?
Yes I do. I think I have come a longg way and matured a lot since last year. Well, since I watched Earthlings...

13. If you were born destitute and were given $100. What would you do with it?
I don't know, buy food or something?

1. How old are you? 20

2. Why are you vegan/vegetarian? I don't believe it's right to use animals. They feel pain and emotion just like humans.

3. What, in your thoughts, does it mean to be vegan/vegetarian?
Vegetarian=no consuming animals that have died for the product
Vegan=no use of any animal product

4. When did you feel (emotionally) comfortable about your decision? (In other words; when you told someone, you were proud to say it as opposed to some what embarrassed.)
Never been embarrassed about it. When I make decisions I stick to it, and if someone opposes then I get even more stubborn about it

5. Does being a vegan/vegetarian make sense to YOU? ...How? Well it must make sense somehow or I wouldn't be one. The way I see it is I wouldn't go up to a human women and start sucking on her breast (shudders) so why consume other animals milk.

6. Other than animals, what else do you support (eg. Child abuse, actions in 3rd world countries, teen issues, etc)? Was supporting Cancer Council but they test on animals of course so no more. And I'm not going to financally support other campaigns til animals are free

7. Do you ever press your views on to someone who doesn’t understand your ‘beliefs’ (be honest now)? Not really, I just discuss animals rights/veganism if the topic comes up

8. If answered ‘yes’, why do you?
If answered ‘no’, why don’t you? I don't really think it's benifical if everyone thinks vegans are batsh*t crazy

9. What is the one thing you’re afraid of? (Now I say one, because fear is always so loosely considered. I would like only one of your fears please).  Ummm currently it would be my old dog dying. Really don't think I'm up to that heartbreak

10. Can you listen to a conversation without ever interrupting it? Depends on what is being said

11. Do you like your home/things/friends/family? Home, no. Things, yes (though not womenly things). Friends, of course or they wouldn't be friends. Family yes and no

12. Do you like who are, at this point in time? I like who I am, not how I currently look though

13. If you were born destitute and were given $100. What would you do with it? Suppose I would buy necessary food. Can't really know for sure since I wasn't born that way
