JESUS NEEDS YOUR MONEY.

sorry if someone finds this offensive, one of the things that made my faith start to crumble was the way that catholic can almost be considered a buisness, the vatican has huge amounts of money, and they dont exactly share it around do they?.

i think what religon can do for people is amazing and i have a huge repect for nuns and priests what they can/have done for what they belive in deserves upmost respect.

also if you look up carmel wauchope she has done huge amounts for people. she used to sneak news paper in to the refugess by making then cupcakes and wrapping them in newspaper. or shes bring them flowers wrapped up in comics and stuffhappy.

so i might disagree with lots of it but i dont want top see a world with out belief

I'm also not fond of the common belief that you have to be religious to be charitable.

buuut arent some of the people here are being kind of hypicrits. there saying people try and enforce theres views of life and religion onto everyone else when your the ones saying "god isnt real" and "the bible is full of crap".
me for i truly with all my heart believe there is a god, mainly because i believe there is some sort of afterlife thing like heaven. to be honest i have never read the bible or do i intend to. but im not going to go around telling them to believe in god and all that. 99% of my friends don't believe in god but that doesn't bother me.
oh and what your saying that people enforcing there beliefs on other people, but im guessing most of you people do that about being a vegetarian or a vegan ? ?

I think when ppl are passionate about something it can come across as preachy. I know I'm guilty of it. I think we just have to be mature about it and respect each other's differences happy

Back to the original question, I'm not religious.

I don't think we're totally dogging religion, we're just questioning it. None of us would have become vegetarian or vegan if we didn't question the norm, would we?

Imagine being born into a atheist/agnostic household. Do you think you would ever believe there was a god? Be honest, you would have no concept of what a god was or is!

All I'm concerned about is this question: why woudl you invest 100% of your faith into something which cannot be proved? Have faith in yourself. Have faith to go it alone in this world. It's EASY to believe that no matter what, you'll be looked after by some "God." Or no matter how crap your life is, you'll get to live out eternity in the paradise of an afterlife. It's HARD though, to say **** it, and go it alone. And I know it's hard. I went to an Anglican school where religion was drummed into my head. However, a few years ago, I didn't just start questioning my eating habits, I began questioning it all; religion, capitalism, government, politics -- all of it!

I genuinly, genuinly believe religion is just a grown-up safety blanket.

Also, I think I should add, I don't think there is nothing after this either. Like an afterlife, it cannot be proved. I'd be very happy to die and then be proven wrong. I'm sure God and I would have a great laugh. wink

Like you matty i strated to question everything when i first went veg and religion was one of those things. I stopped going to church 3 years ago and apart from going to 2 weddings haven't stepped foot in a church since. I do feel better for giving up on religion and dealing with my own problems rather then hoping that a higher power will do it for me.

In a way this is true, but in another, a completely different issue. Enforcing veganism, if anyone were to do it, is about millions of deaths each day, along with all the greenhouse gasses and everything else. Enforcing religion is, well... well it's just really different, and I don't think the two can be compared.

And for the record, I'm not religious. I've tried, and about 95% of my friends are dedicated christians, but I can't do it. I have pretty much the same view on this as Matt.
