Dog laws

A very sad incident happened the other day where one of my brother's dogs was declared as a dangerous dog, this is bad anough on it's own but upon receiving a letter of the declaration it also states that no one under the age of 18 can be in sole charge of the dog. I think that this is a stupid law as i am not 18 so i now cannot walk this dog alone. Yes there is a good point to this law as it's just plain stupid to leave an apparently dangerous dog with someone who is say 12 for example but i believe this age should be lowered or there should be exceptions allowed. I think this because i can handle this dog just as well if not better than my brother so why should i no longer be allowed to walk her!? The entire time i am with this dog she acts like a complete angel and is easily controllable so i am very against this law. I think that a more appropriate age would be 16 or 17 years of age! I know i can control my dogs and i am sure there are many other people the same age as me if not younger that are just as capable!

That sucks though at least the dog isn't being destroyed. i think you would be pretty safe taking him for walks i doubt they would police this issue.

Oh no, what a shame sad   Has she actually been declared dangerous or menacing?  I agree with Frenzal Bop, at least the council haven't ordered her to be destroyed - but your brother will have to be super careful as I'm sure they wouldn't hesitate to do that if any other incident occurred!

don't be so sure about that i live in a small country town and after this the dog isn't liked very much by some specific people nor is my brother so there are plenty of people who would report such a thing. It's one of the negative's of living in a small town where everyone knows everyone else and what they are doing.
