I don't think it's always been about how zoos treat animals, it's more the fact that they believe the animals are theres to remove from their natural habitat and put into an un-natural habitat. Whether that un-natural habitat be a concrete floor, or a high-tech ecospehere, the fact stands that the animal has and is being exploited.
Well for me it's about how they're treated as I can see some positive points for zoos.

..Now wait for it, I bet I'll have a few crazies coming in and getting up my arse just for stating my opinion on the matter

lol, i don't think so. everyone's entitled to their opinion.

it's just animal rights vs. animal welfare.

One of my friends is planning to become an Animal Welfare Investigator/Officer after school. I think only a tafe course is required, but im unsure.
If it's to be a RSPCA inspectors you have to shoot and give green dream to healthy livestock and dogs to finish the course. Hope that's not it for all areas though.

And I'm not working in the industry but I am now volunteering at the repitle park. I've gain a tad more respect for how zoo's look after their animals. Not saying all cases are like that but TRP is good

I have been all around Adelaide zoo though they treat the animals rely well they are still contained in a un-natural environment. They can here the people walk past screaming, chatting ect. i dont like people getting that close to the animals.

we have a open plains zoo called monato. The animals are kept in massive enclosure's which are bigger then the area they would have in the wild. apart from the keepers they have very little human interaction and are treated as wild animals rather then display pieces. Busses' go threw threw the enclosures a few times a day so the people can view the animals.

I dont have a problem with zoos as long as the animals have an environment EXACTLY like they would in the wild and can live as such as well as not being items for show rather get to live without much human interaction as they would in the wild.
