Fruititarianism is where the basis of your diet is fruit. Some fruititarians eat vegetables, nuts or seeds, but many do not want to harm a plant in any way so fruit is basically everything they eat. As a normal fruititarian you can't eat meat, dairy products, grain products, bread, pasta, rice, cakes, soft drinks, junk food, processed food and other cooked foods. Fruititarianism is known not to be very healthy, but it'd be interesting to find out how it is. If you're interested you could visit these sites:

Thanks... A lot for the links, ill read into it more happy I've been thinking a lot about plants and such lately and it really saddens me its sorta the same about animals really hence why I'm vegan already... Someone said before that they think its ok to eat fruit because the trees knowingly provide the fruit and they want there seeds to be dropped/planted... Is that sorta the basis of fruitarianisum? Because if so that is sort of wrong still... That's like saying its ok to eat an animal if it is pregnant and you can raise the baby (with the only difference that the tree still lives but the mama animal doesn't) grr why can't we just evolve to far beyond even having to eat or drink anything at all.

Animals can feel pain, love, fear, happiness and many other feelings. Plants don't have that. Whatever we do, we must eat something, so it's a matter of causing the least harm.

But really, with fruitarianism - a carrot isn't in pain when it's pulled from the ground! It's not conscious. I know it can feel bad to pick your pretty home-grown carrots, but they're not aware of what is happening to them or harmed in any way.

Fruitarianism is a bit much for me.

I understand what your saying, to some it may feel as though it is over the top... but to me it isn't about whether the living being can feel it or not, to me that would be the equivalent to killing and eating/using insects, it has been 'apparently' proven that they cannot feel the pain... also there is talk of fish apparently do not feeling pain either (the reason the wiggle about when people go fishing is because they cannot breath)... though I know most vegans will agree with me its not about whether they can feel the pain or not.

Also I don't mean this to be taken as sarcastically, but do you have any evidence to back your theory that plants do not feel pain or experiencing emotions (if so could you please provide a link to were you sourced that from happy because every thing I have read on the topic states that 'while there is no solid evidence to back this claim, it is believed that plant do not fell pain or emotions') and it also states that the theory is based by the assumption that plants do not have a brain so therefore do not have a nervous system...

Which as far as I'm concerned is not tangible because crabs, fish and insects all have brains there fore have a nervous system though scientist claim they cannot feel pain... this was believed for a very long time though as of the 21st century they are now claiming that SOME fish do feel pain.

And it wasn't that long ago that people believed that most animals could not feel pain (that was proven to be due to shock that the animal failed to respond to pain) and experience emotion (which was proven by mere observations of behaviour)

Plants can feel the warmth of the sun light... is that not feeling? oh and what about carnivorous plants (insect eating plants) they can obviously feel, think and move there fore can experience emotions.

Even if scientist say that plants do not feel pain that doesn't mean anything, scientist have been wrong about many things and my opinion is that they are wrong about this too, what leads me to come to this conclusion is 'just because something doesn't look the same' i feel that is not tangible evidence (they stated that plants appear to not have brains therefore do not have nervous systems, though just because it doesn't look like a brain like ours is not enough evidence to claim that... they could very well have a brain)

Also there used to be theories that because plants don't have muscle tissue how is it that the carnivore plants are able to move, hence what i meant by just because something doesn't look the same as what we all have doesn't mean they are lacking anything... they more then likely do have something similar to muscle tissue, which is what allows us to move...

So really there whole theories of all what animals and plants can feel pain and such is a contraction on many levels.

Also 4_da_animals1: in regards to your comment "Plants have been proven to have small waves of sense of pain when harmed" could you also please provide a link to where i can find such details, I would like to know more happy thanks in advance!

Sorry i know this is a animal rights blog.
But i'm wondering of your thoughts on this.
Over the years as a vegetarian then vegan i've been
drawn into many arguments one of which is,
whats the difference between eating plants and meat.
Are not plants creatures to, with feelings?
Of course i usually explain, well there's a symbiotic relationship
between plants/trees and animals, such as, mango or avocado
trees that produce their fruits/seeds in the hope that a animal
will come along, enjoy the sustenance offered by the tree,
and in return the animal removes the seed from the location
near the tree so ir might have a better chance of survival.
Whats your thoughts?

What is the difference between someone who eats another Human or a Cow... or a Pet?

Difference is the difference. (You don't eat yourself, beyond auto-canabalism, because you die).

Plants may collectively feel. But the whole anthropomorphic (I'm not sure what the Plant based word for this is) aka. attributing human emotions or character to inanimate objects, or animals, in cartoons and such. really stifles people's logic as they grow up.

Myself and a Tree, not entirely similar ? You can understand this, but why is it so complex to realize, if a Tree did feel, it would be in a completely different form to Human feeling and emotion. They don't relate to the same complex things. Sure gravity and such and universal need.

But our emotion is based off social interaction... to a large extent. So ... "feel" being a descriptive word not a naming word. Of course trees can feel... but that word is defined by their own experience and their own physiology/biology.

Why do we expect to be able to relate. Especially in a non-abstract, non-surreal or non-profound way. It actually one of the most ludicrous self-expectations.

It could be possible, but definitely not in this bigoted civilization.

Example. Our emotions may be caused by our own symbiotic internal/external bacteria.. perhaps the same applies for Trees and their Symbiotic relationships.

Another thought. I've heard of a custom of a particular group of natives (in Ol' America I think)... When they need to collect wood for what ever reason, they first discus with the tree, the reasons why they need to cut it down, what they need it for and what it means to them. They then walk away... or up a hill.. then come running down yelling and screaming, then they cut down the tree next to the one they just consulted.

1. To eliminate any "anxiety" and to show their respect, debatably appreciated by an organism so very 'estranged' from one another. But also... 2. because THEY themselves experience this gesture and the sentiment adds to the value of their future gestures and craft work. 3. yelling is less scary than silently being killed without obvious reason. (how would a creature know beyond where it lives, simply because we have outer perspectives through technology ~ -  ~ we assume too much and understand too little)
