Okay so I do painting, and I'd like to make something that relates to animal rights or animal welfare, without being gross (for instance, i dont want to paint a pig being killed)
Im strong in belief that art can depict emotions to the audience, so I hope to portray messages. Any suggestions?
maybe a pig behind bars? a calf all alone in a dark room or something - you could maybe have light coming through in some direction.. maybe from behind barred windows? the light could represent the life outside a factory farm that the calf wishes to live. representing that animals have their own wants... they were not put on earth for us to consume and exploit.

how about heaps of animals running out of a farm! In cartoon or something?? Post the picture once you'v drawn it! Be coool to see what you decide to do!
people walking on animals heads? or a before and after of animals in nature and in captivity?... i really need to get off my arse and start to learn how to draw/paint...
Maybe depict a person in the same situation as some of the animals.. Like behind bars unable to move on the cold hard floor.... Maybe then people will make the connection that factory farming is not cool... for anyone...

I went to a vet nurse conference a few years ago. They showed us a photo of a dog that had fallen from a second storey balcony and got impaled on the fence below. The audience gasped. They then showed a photo of a woman, who had fallen and gotten impaled. The audience screamed! It was amazing to see the different reaction. Just proves that people don't make that connection between animals and humans.
I love doing art. I really need to get back into it myself. How about a picture of chickens all in the frame of the artwork and you can't see anything else because they are all crammed in.
Otherwise maybe do a picture depicting how beautiful animals are. Like pigs snuugling together or penguins looking after their children.

I don't how you could put a human in the same position of a cow/pig/chicken without looking like it's just in prison? Maybe a crouching person in a cage look a chicken... or a pregnant lady in a stall where she can't move?

What about a women standing over an empty cot staring into it. You could tie in the animal rights aspect maybe with her draped in a cow print robe? Even a branded number into her leg? Maybe try to have her face looking really empty. Not necessarily sad and uncontrollably crying, just empty - maybe through cold looking eyes?
idk.. just thinking out a loud. But yeh, like everyone says, you gotta show us the finished product!
