greets!

is there a word for Vegan in India? or are Vegetarians just considered to be the whole gamut of dietary practices abstaining from animal products to varying degrees?

in other words....

are people who say they are vegetarian in India assumed vegans, or is there no such word?

my experience is that people say 'vegetarian dish' but this can have animal products in it and noone really questions that. also Indian people can say they are Vegetarian but this includes dairy (for obvious religious cleansing ideals) and egg et cetera.

but this can vary to having NO DERIVATIVES OF ANIMAL which is kindly printed on most applicable processed food (something australia must do in future), yet those products usually don't mention vegetarian, and never do they say vegan.

happy

it is very confusing.

anyway! welcome.
