Xmas holidays are here. I'm Xmas freak and I always need to see people been nice to each other and do nice things. This is what Christmas are all about right? I'm having nice time with my boyfriend and his family and all that would be perfect IF... Stupid people would not ruin that!!!!!!!! We have been eating outside. I have been pain in the ass because every time we find restaurant and it's open during these holidays they don't have vegan meals. I got "poisoned" couple times. I asked if these meals (which sounded as vegan) are really vegan and guess what? They weren't! After taking first bite or worst eating the entire meal I found it contains egg cheese mayo or something!!!!! I have been crazy lately and so upset because that just not right! Guys I want change!!!! I want change now!!!!! I want every restaurant had at least one REAL VEGAN DISH and as vegan dish I don't mean garden salad!!!!!! Any ideas???? Btw here are restaurants with dumbest service - definitely not vegan friendly I have been lately.
Coco cubano- blacktown
Harmony inn- pendle hill
Mad max- central st
That would be good if all shops offered vegan meals, though I still wouldn't eat them anyway... Because they also make animal infused meals so chances of some animal crap getting in your food is 90% especially arround busy times like Christmas as cooks sometimes forget to wash their hands when moving from one meal to the next or will use the same utensils for up to 5 different meals and then wash them... So I don't eat anywhere unless its vegan specifically... Also have you tried searching happy cow it'll help you find vegan stores in your area... www.happycow.com
Thank you Hun, I think if these shops would be forced have a vegan opitions on their menu it would be one step closer to change the world ..... But I know what u mean and why u wouldn't eat there. It's hard when all your mates and people you love aren't vegans.... My boyfriend does best he can to choose places where I can eat but sometimes it doesn't go that good.
No worries just curious how do you even stand being with a meat eater let alone eat right next or across from them... Doesn't it gross you out? And more importantly wouldn't you rather be with someone that shares your moral views?
Mad Max or Mex or whatever as in the mexican place?
When I go there they always can do vegan for me... but i always specify not to put cheese or cream.
I think there was a forum about it before.
Like their guacamole, bread, bean mix, veg mix and salsa are all good, you just have to tell them to not put cheese or cream on it.
A lot of places aren't used to vegans though or they get vegan and vegetarian mixed up so maybe instead of asking if its vegan ask is it dairy free or if it has egg or honey or other animal products etc
It's a shame that so many places like to think we dont exist :/
but at most restaurants if you just ask in detail then you should get a good response, you might even be able to alter stuff next time like ask for it without cheese, mayo etc
Sorry that it happened though! I hope you're doing ok
and yeah I know the struggle when most people you associate arent vegan, a lot of my 'friends' are quite against it but you'll find people with similar beliefs or at least some who respect your choice
Im open minded.... Comming from country of meat and dairy eaters. I used to be one of them used to eat meat and if i didnt get food poisoning i would probably never be come vegetarian. Now Yes imagining eating meat makes me sick i think i would never go back to meat eater.... Im Vegan only couple months so im still have some cravings for eggs Or dairy, but in these days im having them less and less. I wish my boyfriend become veggie, but im so much in love even he is not. He is doing his best to support me and maybe one day will Turn veggie to... But its only up to him.
I know that mad mex can do Vegan but they gave me cheese by accident. I'm just sad that people aren't aware of vegans. What would it do To You to make one dish just from vegetable? I have a dream open one day Vegan restaurant somewhere in Sydney cbd like george street .... And educate meat eaters that there are people which eating only plants so these people wouldnt be like "oh You Vegan so u eat only fish, right?" "What does it mean being a vegan?"
In that Chinese restaurant holiday inn in pendle hill in their "vegetarian" section in menu was tofu with fish sauce. Tofu with pork mince and tofu with oyster sauce.... I was like "r u kidding me?"
People need education but they hate being pushed and doesn't matter if you vegan and someone tries to push you eat dairy or if u meat lover and people push u eat broccoli which u hate.
I know exactly what you mean about places not having vegan options! It's so annoying to find there's nothing on the menu for you, but I find this is getting rarer and rarer. Most places will have something for us.
However, I find it really important to make veganism accessible by supporting places that, although they serve meat, also have vegan meals available. Declining a friend's invitation to dinner because it's not a vegan restaurant does nothing to promote veganism - which is our aim!
