Hi,
my friend is conducting her year 12 research project on animal cruelty in Australia. I have given her a whole heap of resources ( most of them from animals Australia). I would really love it if people could share some ideas on topics in animal cruelty to research and any good resources you might know of. I can pass them on to her.
Not only is it a project, but its activism as well!!!!!!!
Please help me out.
Not to be a dick about it, but the whole idea behind RPA, is not the outcome of the research. It is predominantly an individual assessment process of Research itself.
The student will be in positions where they must say more about their trials and tribulations in researching, more than they have 'gained information about a topic' or 'answers to hypothesis'.
We have essays and assignments all the time which require research, but it has become apparent to governing bodies that students lack the initiative to properly engage in the practice of healthy, investigating methods of drawing conclusions and completing tasks.
Thus the Research Project, is a Project focusing on the research process itself... where things become apart to the Student and Teacher, if they are forced to say: "I just googled it and..", "My friend tried to ask on a forum for me, but couldn't find anything I was interested in using".
They then realize that maybe they are not using all of the resources out there to attain an intelligent and broad perspective, to help fluently express things they have learned. Not by prejudice, assumption, negative-gearing, the news, bias or opinion... but because they have used many methods and modes of research.
Thus the RPA should involve Libraries, direct Correspondence with community figures and responsible persons implicit/educated about/involved with in the students chosen area of interest. This is also why the RPA is a personally chosen topic, to ensure the best circumstances for motivating proper research methods.
Animal Cruelty is not a topic that has been invented by your friend. The very reason it exists as an idiom (commonly used phrasing) is because of the number of people involved in exposing the cruelty done to animals by our way of life.
All of the things you find, exist because passionate people have thoroughly researched this very area of concern. Not to mention those that happen to have the life experience, enough to draw their own wisdom and motivation to seek further resolution in this area.
Products say 'cruelty free'. To be able to state this, a company must know what 'animal cruelty' is. Perhaps that is the best place to start, as those implicated in cruelty to animals, are less responsible or trust worthy sources. Than those whom understand it and are against it, to the point of seeking alternatives; what are their alternatives? That is a good question for your friend to ask.
Hope this helps.
It is not about getting good grades, because you seem to have done what is required for good grades. It is not about giving them what they want. It is not about being successful by completing the task on a rudimentary level.
It is about being given the opportunity in this society, to have time and encouragement to LEARN SOMETHING FOR YOURSELF. The opportunity we have, IS SCHOOLING. Damn the curriculum and those Teachers who choose to teach as a career choice, or based on a pay role.
Those are the students that never learned, or had the life experience to let their passion develop and bloom. To have the personally sentimental outcomes that can be shared with their students, via their own passion, in the area of Teaching they have CHOSEN.
Chosen not because it is simple, it is easiest, it is the quickest path to success. But because it is something they have been passionate about and have learned so much about, that they can share their knowledge and inspire students in this area, even if it is not something the students choose to focus on in their life. It will be a life experience that stays with them throughout study and life.
How can Teachers expect to imbue Students with passion for a topic, when they lack it and exhibit no sign of what it is to be exuberantly engaged with one's own compassionate life journey. Instead the Teachers are judged by their Students' Grades and they are complacent in fear of being seen in bad light. They are whimsical and careless, if not overly strict and pointless.
