STOP UK LAB'S PUPPY AND KITTEN EXPERIMENTS!

A UK lab owned by pharmaceutical giant Merck, Sharp and Dohme (MSD) is using healthy puppies, kittens and other animals to conduct tests for veterinary vaccines such as kennel cough, parvovirus and feline calcivirus.

These lively animals, which include beagle puppies and their nursing mothers, could be adopted out to loving homes. Instead they are subject to gruesome trials by desensitized researchers. Undercover photos and video footage show puppies yelping and panicking before receiving lethal injections. Clearly these animals are aware of their fates. After puppies are used in this manner, the mothers are killed with no apparent effort to adopt them out.

Susie, the activist and animal science university graduate who took the undecover footage, was sickened by what she saw, but hopes it will raise awareness. The British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection (BUAV) is hoping to abolish these animal tests in favor of humane, modern test methods like cell bacteria analysis. HELP EMPEROR PENGUINS AVOID A MARCH TO EXTINCTION

Emperor penguins are icons of wild Antarctica. But climate change is rapidly melting the sea ice they need for survival, and these majestic birds are disappearing without the icy waters they need to raise their chicks and forage. Scientists predict that nearly half of the world's emperor penguins may disappear by mid-century if we don't make drastic cuts in carbon pollution soon.

The emperor penguin colony featured in the film March of the Penguins has declined by more than half, and penguins in other colonies are forced to climb up steep ice shelves to find nesting sites when sea ice is not available.

Melting sea ice, along with ocean acidification and industrial fisheries, threatens the availability of krill, a critical food source for emperor penguins.

Right now the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is deciding whether to give emperor penguins protection under the Endangered Species Act -- protections that will help make the difference between survival and extinction.

Please take action to tell the Service to give emperor penguins the full protection of the Endangered Species Act before their march comes to an end.

STRONGER LAWS FOR ANIMAL ABUSE IN AUSTRALIA

RSPCA in Australia has really no power to control Animal Abuse, we need Stronger Laws to protect Animals from Abuse, even severe cases do not get handled properly due to Laws not being in place for Animals in this country...

Fines are handed out, but Long term jail sentences are needed to Stop the vicious acts upon pets.

HELP STOP THE INDISCRIMINATE KILLING!

The Wildlife Services agency of the U.S. Department of Agriculture is currently being audited by the USDA Office of the Inspector General. But the killing continues.

Wildlife Services' predator control program has recently been the subject of public scrutiny regarding unprofessional behavior, the deaths of non-target species including an endangered Mexican gray wolf and failure to implement viable and proven non-lethal management alternatives, suggesting that many of the program's practices are inefficient, ineffective, and scientifically unfounded.

Recently, Wildlife Services sharpshooters killed 23 wolves from a helicopter in a remote area in Idaho.

The killing has to stop. Urge Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack to impose a moratorium on Wildlife Services' killing of wolves and other top predators pending the outcome of the ongoing Inspector General's audit.

STOP THE IMPORT OF DESTRUCTIVE EXOTIC SNAKES

Highly adaptable, nonnative snakes pose an unacceptable risk as invaders. Through escape or release, these "pet" snakes invade natural habitats where they pose a threat to endangered and threatened species like coquí llaneros and crested toads.

The snakes also pose a public-safety risk: An escaped constrictor snake strangled a two-year-old Florida girl in her crib.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service took a step in the right direction by banning the importation and interstate trade of four invasive constrictors in 2012. But two years later the agency still hasn't acted on the other five invaders that account for 70 percent of the trade -- the reticulated python, DeSchauensee's anaconda, green anaconda, Beni anaconda and boa constrictor.

In the Everglades the introduction of nonnative pythons is thought to have wiped out most of the native mammals, including raccoons, opossums and bobcats. And boa constrictors have invaded Puerto Rico and are displacing native reptiles.

Take action below to help prevent further harm. Urge the Fish and Wildlife Service to add these five invasive snakes to the Lacey Act's list of "injurious" species.

SAVE FLORIDA MANATEES, SEA TURTLES FROM DREDGING AND BLASTING

Please add your name to this petition to help protect endangered manatees and sea turtles from a destructive plan proposed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

For all the sea traffic that it currently supports, Lake Worth Inlet is full of life. Three kinds of sea turtles hatch their eggs on the beaches just to the north and south of the port, and nearly 600 endangered manatees have been reported in the warm-water refugia here at one time. Lake Worth Lagoon is also home to a number of quieter beauties: soft corals, sponges and gently waving seagrasses.

The reef and sea-grass habitats would be destroyed if the Army Corps continues with their plan. The Corps wants to bring in enormous machines called dredges that would scrape the entire bottom of the inlet to make way for big ships. This plan places a higher value on cold, economic efficiency and bulk commodities like cement and sugar.

Take action now and urge the Corps to recheck the math on its balance sheet; the costs of this project to our state's precious plants and wildlife is something we simply can't afford.

SAVE SEALS: URGE CANADA TO STOP SEAL SLAUGHTER WITH A FEDERAL BUYOUT

Did you know that less than 5% of a sealer's annual income comes from the Canadian seal hunt? The vast majority (over 95%) of their income comes from commercial fishing.

This is why a federal buyout makes so much sense. Sealers don't need the seal hunt to make a living. The concept is simple: rather than wasting tax money on a hunt with no market, the Canadian government can actually save money by offering to pay sealers a fair dollar amount to give up their license to kill.

Veterinarians say Canada's commercial seal slaughter is inherently inhumane and nations are taking action by banning trade in seal products. Yet the Canadian government still authorizes the cruel slaughter of hundreds of thousands of seals each year — even using government funds to finance the purchase of seal pelts.

Each year, our team witnesses conscious, wounded baby seals left to suffer in agony — impaled on metal hooks, dragged across the ice, and cut open — all for their pelts to be stockpiled in a warehouse. Even Newfoundland sealers with an opinion support a federal sealing industry buyout. With this plan, the seal slaughter would end, sealers would receive financial compensation, and economic alternatives would be developed.

Please ask Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper to end the slaughter once and for all with a federal sealing industry buyout.

TELL VIRGIN TO STOP SUPPORTING WHALE CRUELTY

Virgin Holidays sells trips to SeaWorld. Ask Richard Branson to stop supporting whale cruelty.

Most captive orcas die in their teens and twenties. In the wild females can live into their 80s.
Only 6 cents in every $100 of SeaWorld’s annual revenue goes towards conservation.
An orca at SeaWorld would have to swim around the main pool 1,400 times to match the distance travelled daily in the wild.

Keeping whales in tanks is NOT conservation. It’s NOT education. It IS cruel. Richard Branson claims to care about whale conservation - Please tell him to stop Virgin selling trips to places like SeaWorld.

Sir Richard has already shown that he is aware of our campaign and has called for an end to the live capture of whales and dolphins but we need to persuade him that there is more he can do. Please sign our petition and send him the message that by selling trips to SeaWorld he is supporting a devastatingly cruel industry and he can do better.
