Hi Everyone happy I was looking at places to volunteer at when I came across fostering on the RSPCA website. It sounds rewarding and a lot of fun. My dad is not a cat person but if you only have the animal for a couple of weeks I think I could persuade him. For those who have fostered before I have some questions:

1. Is it a lot of work? (Do you need to spend a lot of time and focus on the animals or is it just like having a normal pet)
2. Would it be better to do it in the holidays so that you can put more time on the animal?
3. What was the best part of fostering?
4. Did you get attached to the animal that it was hard to rehome it?

Also if you have any stories about fostering please let me know!

P.S Have a great cruelty free easter!

I have "fostered" a pair of bearded dragons for a a few weeks with a friend. Basically I was staying over his for a few days and just made sure their diet ,enclosure & temperature set up was proper while he waited for his buyer to come collect.

His little brother had somehow gotten the lizards  and did not have the maturity or temperament to be able to take care of them.

Though they aren't your cuddly type of pets, I really enjoyed bearded dragons as they just love to chill for a bit on you and though they dont give the affection that a dog or cat does they are very temperamental  & fascinating to have a chance to interact with ecstatic

I have a cousin on the other hand who has and currently still does fosters recused chickens from factory farms, goats i even think he had at one point, but a lot of chickens coming and going.

Hi just from my experience volunteering and fostering at the rspca was hard work and the manager wasn't a pleasant person changed prices on adoptons and even charging a disability person volunteer for something that didn't even get purchased selling donations and they don't buy any food they prey on the public dry food is manly given and the amount that was chucked out was rediculious and destroy animals that can be rehabilitated but not given the chance to. You can foster for 2weeks and strict guidelines just always remember the animals end up there due to issues the owner would have allowed to be created then can't deal with so ends up with new owners until they have had enough to.my heart feels very deeply for those animals especially the dogs they really get the wrong end of the stick.goodluck on your venture

Hi 4_animals,

I've been fostering cats/kittens for my local no-kill shelter since September 2013, fostering is a really rewarding experience and it's extremely easy happy

It's quiet easy happy all my cats/kittens I have fostered have got along well with my 3 cats, all the cats I've fostered have come litter trained, so I didn't have to do any training with them, I've only had one cat that was so abused it took her a month to even begin to trust us but it was amazing to watch her transition and when she found a home I honestly couldn't of been happier happy all I have to do with my cats is do regular flea and worm treatments, feed them and give them loads of cuddles happy it's that easy!!

I started fostering in the holidays as I wasn't to sure what to expect happy if you can I would reccomend giving it a go in the holidays and see how you go happy

I think the best part honestly as hard as it is, is when you find the perfect home for the animals happy I always have a tear before they go but I know they are going to a wonderful home and they always keep in touch with me happy

It's always hard saying goodbye to the animals but knowing they are going to a good home is what makes it all worth it happy I have to admit I don't think I can let my current foster cat go, he has been in foster care since he was 4 months old and he is turning 4 this year happy he is the most beautiful cat, Borris is a Norweigan Forest Cat

If you have any other questions feel free to ask ecstatic happy Easter happy
