Faux fur, thoughts?

Hey guys, was wondering what your views are on faux fur materials, for example collars on jackets, cushion covers, throws, etc.  Is it any different to wearing vinyl shoes that pretend to look like leather or for that matter a vinyl couch?

I've gotta say I've seen items I like but feel kind of torn and hypocritical in liking them or wanting to purchase them.

Thoughts?

I feel about them similarly to how I feel about mock meats. Yeah they're designed to look/feel like animal products, but they're not. I don't see any real harm in it. I've never owned real fur and I don't think I've ever owned real leather (not knowingly anyway) so that might have something to do with my opinion - to me it isn't replicating anything, it's just a type of material with an interesting texture. I don't associate it with animals.

I'm not against it. Obviously it's 101% better than genuine fur!

Personally I don't like the appearance of it though like I've always hated the look of fur jackets and those weird vest things that are in fashion right now that look like long bits of wool have been stuck on? with bits of feathers in it? I don't understand. And I don't get the whole fur trim on a hood thing I don't think I've ever had one of those because wouldn't it get in your face and be really itchy and then get matted and gross after a while?
But like yeah it's fine.
